Kelley Mack, best known for playing Addy in Season 9 of The Walking Dead, has died at the age of 33. Born Kelley Klebenow, the actress lost her fight against diffuse midline glioma — a rare and aggressive form of cancer — on August 2, 2025, in her hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. Her mother and aunt were by her side during her final moments, her family shared in a heartfelt CaringBridge update.
In a moving Instagram post, Mack’s family described her as “a bright, fervent light” and revealed that many loved ones have seen butterflies since her passing — a sign they believe reflects her enduring spirit. A remembrance ceremony is planned for August 16 in Ohio, with a second celebration of life to be held later in Los Angeles.

Mack was diagnosed with the aggressive grade IV tumor in January 2025 after months of back pain and nerve-related symptoms in late 2024. She courageously shared her journey publicly, explaining that a spinal biopsy left her without the use of her right leg and limited function in her left. Despite relying on a walker and wheelchair, she continued to face the illness with determination.

A native of Cincinnati, Mack earned her Bachelor’s degree in Cinematography from Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film. Over her career, she appeared in more than 35 acting roles and produced five projects. While The Walking Dead brought her to a global audience, she also made notable appearances in Chicago Med (Season 8, as Penelope Jacobs) and 9-1-1. On the big screen, she starred in Broadcast Signal Intrusion, Delicate Arch, and most recently played Alice in Universal (June 2025) alongside Joe Thomas.
Her love for storytelling began in childhood after receiving a mini video camera as a birthday gift. She later worked in commercials, voice-overs, and even lent her voice to the Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
