Reborn : New Tata Sierra unveiled ahead of November 25 launch

Tata Motors has finally revealed the production-ready design of the all-new Tata Sierra, marking the comeback of the iconic SUV after more than 20 years. Showcased at the brand’s special “Sierra Day” event, the 2025 Sierra blends the legendary nameplate with a bold, modern design. The official price announcement is scheduled for November 25. Positioned above the Tata Curvv in the company’s ICE lineup, the new Sierra will compete in the highly popular midsize SUV segment, taking on rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Suzuki Vitara/Elevate segment rivals, Honda Elevate, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.

Exterior design

The new Tata Sierra brings back the iconic legacy of the original SUV while embracing a more premium, modern design language. Its signature boxy silhouette remains at the core, now refined with cleaner surfaces, a confident upright stance and muscular shoulders that enhance its road presence. Instead of the classic three-quarter glass, Tata has introduced a contemporary setup featuring a panoramic sunroof, flush-mounted glazing and a sleek blacked-out roof finisher. This combination preserves the airy feel of the old Sierra while complying with today’s safety standards.

Up front, the 2025 Tata Sierra stands out with a glossy black fascia that integrates connected LED DRLs, projector headlamps and an illuminated Tata logo, giving it a futuristic identity. The rugged front bumper with gloss-black accents and silver-finished faux skid plates adds toughness to the overall look. At the rear, the SUV mirrors this modern styling with a full-width LED tail bar, bold squared-off elements and a clamshell tailgate for a clean, powerful appearance.

Additional exterior features include large 19-inch alloy wheels, flush door handles, prominent body cladding, blacked-out ORVMs and functional roof rails. The reinvented Sierra has already gained international praise, winning the prestigious 2025 Red Dot Design Award.

Interior design

Inside, the new Tata Sierra introduces Tata’s fresh “Life Space” interior philosophy, created to feel like a soothing living room on wheels. The cabin features a premium triple-screen TheatrePro setup—Tata’s first—combining the digital instrument cluster, the main infotainment screen and a dedicated passenger display, all housed under a single seamless glass panel for a futuristic look.

The use of soft-touch materials, subtle metallic highlights, ambient lighting and a clean, minimalistic layout gives the interior a warm, modern and inviting aesthetic. The large panoramic sunroof extends deep into the cabin, echoing the bright, open feel of the original Sierra while adding a contemporary touch.

Key features include dual-zone climate control, ventilated and powered front seats, rear sunshades, a wireless charger, an electronic parking brake, a 360-degree camera and Level-2 ADAS for added safety. The SUV also comes equipped with Tata’s latest JBL Black 12-speaker audio system with Dolby Atmos and a SonicShaft soundbar for an immersive sound experience.

Engine

Tata has showcased the new Sierra’s design, but the big news under the hood is its updated powertrain lineup. The SUV will introduce Tata’s all-new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, expected to deliver around 160–170 bhp and 250–280 Nm of torque, paired with both manual and automatic transmission options. For customers looking for a more affordable entry point, Tata will also offer a new 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. Alongside these, the trusted 1.5-litre diesel motor—producing 118 bhp and 260 Nm—will continue to be available with manual as well as automatic gearboxes.

Tata has also confirmed that an all-electric Sierra is part of its long-term plan, although details about the EV version are still under wraps.

Launch and prices

Prices for the new Tata Sierra will be announced on November 25, with expectations placing the SUV in the Rs 11 lakh-Rs22 lakh (ex-showroom) range.
